Latin American Studies Class Travels to SUNY Plattsburgh
The students in Mr. Snyder's Latin American Studies class participate, in early June of each school year, in a Model Organization of American States Conference at SUNY Plattsburgh. The students research a different country in Latin America each year and represent that nation at the conference. In order to gain first hand knowledge for their research, Mr. Snyder arranges for the students to travel to Ottawa, Ontario and visit the embassy of the nation they are representing. Students use this research to develop resolutions on varying topics under discussion by the actual Organization of American States and then present it at the Model.
This course can be taken for college credit through SUNY Plattsburgh.
Please click on the link below to visit Mr. Snyder's class webpage, you will find more information and pictures taken while participating during the conference at SUNY Plattsburgh.

With close to eight years of experience on Capitol Hill, Jon began his career there as an intern in the office of former Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton while still in college. Jon graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2008 Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with an honors degree in Government. At St. Lawrence, Jon was elected student body president his sophomore year and was nominated treasurer of Ogdensburg’s Democratic Committee. Ogdensburg Students Celebrate Living History Day!
Living History Day is the culmination of a year-long project between Heuvelton Central School, Morristown Central School, and Ogdensburg City Schools. Fourth and seventh grade students from all schools were involved in the project. Students studied the French and Indian War throughout the year and completed projects with a focus on the role Fort de la Presentation played in this conflict.
On Friday May 20th, 18th-century re-enactors and heritage interpreters demonstrated open-hearth cooking, colonial toys, colonial lighting, tinsmithing, cartridge rolling and other traditional activities. Throughout the day, more than 300 students saw, touched and tasted some of what was everyday life for their ancestors.
The event was put on by the Fort de La Presentation Association.
